Local facilities will be enhanced
through the Sowerby Gateway development.
Recreational
land
7.8 hectares of land has been allocated for community resources, including
a community park and allotments, in addition to land for 5-a-side
and full size football pitches. There’s also potential for a
cross country cycle route around the green space.
Open space
The whole site will have a network of recreational routes and green
corridors. These foot and cycle paths will ensure linkages are created
throughout the development, minimising the need for cars, whilst providing
easy access to the neighbourhood centre, the new primary school and
to the main areas of new employment land.
Wildlife
A series of swales will be created to improve biodiversity and encourage
wildlife.
Children’s
play area
Children’s play equipment will be available for use by children
from both the new residential areas and the existing homes surrounding
the site.
